Sweet and sour onions: how to prepare them at home

Ingredients:

500 g sugar
200 ml apple cider vinegar
1 tsp salt
1 kg red onion
bay leaves

Method

Cut the onion into thin slices.

Place it in a bowl and add the bay leaves, vinegar and salt. Mix the ingredients well.

Cover and leave for 4 hours.

After leaving it, stir the ingredients again and add the sugar. Stir the ingredients until the sugar dissolves completely.

Cover it again and leave it for another 5 hours.

After 5 hours, pour the mixture into a pot and cook on low heat for about 40 minutes.

Serve the sweet and sour onions with toasted bread and salad.
