Ingredients:
- 5 kg oranges
- 3 lemons
- 3 liters of water + 2 extra liters
- 200 grams of sugar
Instructions:
- Preparing the citrus fruits:
1- Wash the oranges and lemons well under running water.
2- Peel the oranges and lemons, making sure to remove the white part that may be bitter. - Cooking the citrus fruits:
1- Place the peeled oranges and lemons in a large pot with 3 liters of water.
2- Bring to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Preparing the juice:
1- After cooking, blend the cooked oranges and lemons until you get a homogeneous mixture.
2- Filter the mixture to get rid of any solid residue, to get only the juice. - Mixing the juice:
1- Return the filtered juice to the pot.
2- Add an additional 2 liters of water and 200 grams of sugar.
3- Bring to a boil again, and mix well to dissolve the sugar. - Filling the juice:
1- While the juice is still hot, pour it into clean, dry glass bottles.
2- Close the bottles tightly with their caps, making sure to seal them tightly to prevent air from entering. - Cooling and storage:
1- Leave the bottles to cool for 20-24 hours.
2- Store the bottles in a cool, dark place like a basement. The juice can be kept for up to two years if proper storage conditions are followed. Enjoy your homemade lemon and orange juice!
