the components:
1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 cups broccoli florets
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon ginger, minced
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon cornstarch (mixed with 1 tablespoon water)
sesame seeds (for garnish)
green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Directions:
Make the sauce:
In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, honey, sesame oil, and 1/4 cup water. Set aside.
Cook the shrimp:
Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
Stir-Fry Broccoli:
In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon vegetable oil. Throw in the broccoli and sauté for 3-4 minutes until it begins to soften but still has a slight crunch.
Add Aromatics:
Add the minced garlic and ginger to the skillet with the broccoli. Sauté for another minute until fragrant.
Assemble:
Pour the prepared sauce into the skillet with the broccoli, tossing to coat the vegetables. Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet, tossing everything together. Mix the cornstarch slurry (1 teaspoon cornstarch + 1 tablespoon water) into the stir-fry, allowing the sauce to thicken for 1-2 minutes.
Serve:
Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve the stir-fried shrimp and broccoli over rice or pasta for a delicious meal.
