I love this recipe! Every time it comes out of the oven, my kids can’t get enough of it.

  • 1 pound pork sausage
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 packages (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent dough
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 1 beaten egg (for brushing)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until browned and cooked through, breaking up into small pieces as it cooks. Drain excess fat.

In a mixing bowl, combine cooked sausage, softened cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

If using cheddar cheese, add it now.

Unroll crescent dough and cut into triangles.

Place a spoonful of the sausage mixture on the wide end of each triangle and roll it up toward the narrow end, pinching the edges to seal.

Place the crescents on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Brush the tops with beaten egg for a shiny, golden finish.

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crescents are golden brown.

Leave to cool slightly before serving.

Variations and Tips:

For a spicier flavor, try using hot sausage or adding a few crushed red pepper flakes to the sausage mixture.

You can also experiment with different types of cheese, such as pepper jack or mozzarella, to add your own flavor.

If you prefer, you can substitute puff pastry for the crescent dough for a fluffier texture. To add a unique twist to your breakfast, consider adding some chopped bell peppers or green onions to the filling for an extra kick.
