Here’s a simple way to make a delicious pizza sauce:
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 400 grams tomato paste (or a can of peeled and crushed tomatoes)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper (optional)
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar or lemon juice (optional)
Method:
In a small saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and golden, then add the minced garlic and sauté for a minute until fragrant.
Add the tomato paste or crushed tomatoes to the pan and stir well.
Add the sugar, oregano, basil, black pepper, salt, and red pepper (if you prefer a little spiciness). Mix all ingredients well.
Leave the sauce on low heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and the flavors are well blended.
You can add balsamic vinegar or lemon juice at the end to give the sauce a touch of acidity.
Let the sauce cool slightly before using it on the pizza dough.
Your pizza sauce is ready to use!
You can store it in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze it for later use.
