Here’s an easy recipe for making Apple and Walnut Crostata

Steps to prepare the apple and walnut crostata:

Prepare the dough

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, and salt. Then add the cold butter cubes.

Using your fingertips or a food processor, rub the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

Gradually add the cold water until the dough forms. The dough should be pliable, but not sticky.

Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes to chill.

Prepare the filling:

Peel and thinly slice the apples.

In a bowl, mix the apple slices with the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and chopped walnuts.

Shape the crostata:

Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).

Roll the dough out on a floured surface to form a circle about 25cm in diameter.

Place the filling in the centre of the dough, leaving about 5cm from the edges free of filling.

Fold the edges over the filling irregularly, so that the filling is exposed in the centre.
Brush the edges of the dough with melted butter.

Bake the crostata for 30-35 minutes, or until the dough is golden and the apples are tender.

Serving:
When serving, you can drizzle the crostata with honey or caramel, or garnish with a dusting of powdered sugar.
