For any family dinner or special occasion, this classic, comforting, creamy potato gratin is the perfect solution.
As an irresistible side dish, try sliced potatoes cooked in a rich cheese sauce.
What are the ingredients?
2 pounds peeled and finely chopped potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet).
3/4 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup whole milk
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan
3 cubes of butter soup
3 spears, pierced
3/4 cup muesli with coffee
Salt and pepper Salt
For garnish, fresh rosemary.
Bring all four to a boil.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit or 190 degrees Celsius.
Prepare potatoes:
Cut potatoes roughly, leaving about an eighth of an inch thick, after picking. For uniform slices, use a mandolin.
Prepare cheese sauce:
Cool butter over medium heat in a medium casserole dish.
Stir in minced garlic and return to pan until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Mix heavy cream and milk by sifting together.
Bring mixture to a simmer, then stir in crumbled cheddar and grated Parmesan. Continue stirring until cheese melts and sauce thickens.
Add crushed nutmeg, salt and pepper to taste.
Assemble the plate:
Place a large flat plate on a baking sheet, then grease it with butter or nonstick spray.
Arrange half of the potato slices in the bottom of the plate and press them down gently.
