Caramel apples are a delicious and easy-to-prepare dessert that can be served on special occasions or as a snack. Here is the simple way to prepare them:
Ingredients:
- 6 apples (preferably large red or green apples)
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- ½ cup butter
- 1 cup whipping cream (optional)
- Wooden sticks
Steps:
Prepare the apples: Wash the apples well and dry them completely, then insert the wooden sticks into the apples from the stem side.
Prepare the caramel:
In a medium saucepan, add the sugar, water and lemon juice.
Leave the mixture on medium heat until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture begins to boil.
Do not stir the mixture, just move the pot a little if necessary.
Leave it to boil until it turns golden (the ideal temperature of caramel is about 150 degrees Celsius if you have a special candy thermometer).
Once it reaches a beautiful golden color, add the butter and stir well until it melts.
If you prefer a creamy caramel, add the cream and stir until you get a smooth mixture.
Dipping the apple: Hold the apple by the stick and dip it into the hot caramel, then slowly turn the apple to coat it with caramel on all sides.
Cooling:
Place the caramel-coated apple on parchment paper and allow it to cool and dry completely (about 30 minutes).
Decorating (optional):
You can sprinkle the apple with chopped nuts (such as walnuts or almonds) or chocolate chips before the caramel has completely set.
Enjoy!
