- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Apple Filling 2
- large apples, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Maple Sauce
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line an 11×7-inch pan with foil (or spray with cooking spray).
Apple Filling:
Over medium-low heat, cook apple filling mixture for 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
Brownies:
Beat butter until light and fluffy, about 1 minute. Add brown sugar and granulated sugar and mix until well combined.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add salt and vanilla extract. Mix until combined.
In a separate bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and cinnamon. Add wet ingredients and mix until combined.
In the bottom of the pan, spread half of the brownie batter evenly using a spatula (or your hands—the batter is very thick, so I prefer to spread it with my hands).
Spread apple filling evenly over the entire layer.
Spread remaining brownie batter evenly over top.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until top is golden brown and a cake tester comes out clean.
