In this lesson we will learn about types of nail files, brushes and scissors (nail polish).

  1. Types of nail files

A nail file is a tool used to shape and reduce the length of nails in a smooth and safe way. There are many types of files depending on the material used, either rough or design.

  • Metal Files: These are made of metal, and are very strong and long lasting. They are used for strong and durable nails, but they can cause damage to sensitive nails if used too often and forcefully.
  • Glass (crystal) nail files: These are made of durable glass and are gentle on nails, helping to reduce damage from constant filing.
  • Paper Nail Files (Cardboard): Made of sandpaper, they have a rough surface and are less durable than other types. Suitable for all delicate and simple nails.

Electric Nail Files: Comes with an electric motor to make filing nails quick and easy. Can also be used to shape nails to smooth and polish them.

2.Types of nail polish brushes

Nail polish brushes can be used to evenly and uniformly distributed color across the surface of the nails. Brushes come in many different types and shapes depending on their purpose.

  • Fine brushes can be used: They are ideal for applying delicate designs to the nails such as lines or small decorations.
  • Wide brushes: Ideal for daily use in applying base coat. Used to quickly cover the entire nail surface.
  • Engraving brush: Very small and can be used for fine drawing and engraving on nails.
  • Remover Brush: Designed to remove excess polish around the nails to give a clean and tidy look.

3. Types of nail clippers

Scissors are an essential tool in a nail care kit, and they vary in size, shape, and purpose.

  • Regular or traditional nail clippers: They feature small blades that are suitable for cutting nails accurately and quickly.
  • Scissors used to remove excess skin: It has a sharp and precise blade used to remove excess skin around the nails without causing any harm or damage.
  • Scissors for kids: Safely designed with short blades and rounded tips to protect children from injury.
  • Toenail clippers: These are larger and stronger for cutting thick, tough nails, and usually have stronger blades.

4.Types of nail polish and paints

Nail polish is one of the most popular nail care items, and there are many different types depending on different needs.

  • Traditional nail polish: It consists of a chemical formula that dries in the air, and is the most commonly used type. It is available in a wide and large range of colors.
  • Gel nail polish: It is characterized by its long-lasting effect and requires the use of an LED or UV lamp to fix it. It has a greater and more stable shine that lasts for several weeks.
  • Matte nail polish: It gives a matte look to the nails. It is a modern and distinctive type.
  • Strengthening or enhancing nail polish: It contains ingredients that nourish nails and prevent them from breaking and cracking. It can be used alone or under regular nail polish.
  • Peelable nail polish: Suitable for people who like to change colors regularly without having to use chemical nail polish removers.
  • Magnetic polish: contains metal particles, designs can be formed on the nails when using a special magnet.
